Almost all of us can relate to being overwhelmed in a new job, especially in the first few days. The last thing any new employee wants to do is navigate a massive printed booklet or large PDF file on the company’s health insurance offerings and other ancillary benefits.

Yet this is the antiquated current state of how most companies onboard new employees: they leave us to read through convoluted benefit guides to determine which health insurance plan and other benefits are best for our unique personal or family situations. Employees are equally confused during their companies' annual open enrollment periods when they can change or update their benefits.

Ben Hale, co-founder and CEO of Brite, experienced the pain of this broken process firsthand when he was diagnosed with cancer and realized he had selected a suboptimal health insurance plan due to the lack of clarity when he started his new job. In this moment, Ben resolved to fix this problem for millions of employees who are hired each year, so they won’t ever have to go through what he did. Ben coalesced an incredible founding team of his former co-workers at Weave with proven engineering leadership, Jake Parkinson and Colton Shields, and a longtime friend, Landon Fielding, who has a decade of experience in employer benefit consulting. Together they launched Brite — as a benefit decision software that helps employees pick with clarity and ease the right employer benefits for them and their dependents.

The company’s decision tool is integrated with “digital benefit guides” that help users get recommendations for employer benefits including medical, HSA contributions, supplemental life insurance, hospital indemnity, and more. To make it seamless for companies to implement, Brite is a completely customizable software and works easily with an organization's existing communication channels, their benefits providers, and HRIS/payroll vendors.

Halfway through our first meeting with Brite’s founding team, we were convinced this was a team and product we wanted to be a part of. Ben and his co-founders are product obsessed and have the technical and product management background to deliver on their immense vision. They also have an intimate understanding of the employer benefit ecosystem with all of its complexity.

We are proud to partner with Brite as they continue to help employees understand and make the best benefit decisions.
